What we do

The IDGS is a national research and policy think tank, our focus is on conducting research and innovative civic education programs utilising the expertise of well-known academics, and partners to advance the universal values of democratic practices, human rights, transparency, good governance in Somalia.

IDGS core areas of work include but not limited to:

To increase public awareness about democratic practices and processes, including gender equality.

To facilitate public debates and discussions on democratic reforms, fundamental rights and Constitutionalism in Somalia.

To broaden opportunities for women's participation in political decision making both at the Federal and the Member States levels.

To link national-level advocacy with grassroots democratic education, civil society organisations and activists who play a critical role in putting Somalia on the path of democratic rule that reflects the will of the people.

IDGS core areas of work include but not limited to:

To institutionalise Democracy, good governance, human rights, transparency and accountability as the foundation of Somali public and private sector policy formulations and decision making.

To increase public awareness about democratic practices and processes, including gender equality.
